Indiana HB1051 prohibits health care providers from reporting medical debt to credit agencies.

Indiana HB1051 amends the Indiana Code to exclude medical debt from credit scoring. The bill prohibits health care providers from reporting or furnishing any information related to health care debt to consumer reporting agencies. It also mandates that health care providers include provisions in contracts with third-party furnishers to prevent such reporting. Additionally, consumer reporting agencies are barred from recording or retaining any health care debt information reported after June 30, 2026.
