Illinois proposes to amend its constitution to allow voting by U.S. citizens aged 18 or older who have been Illinois residents for at least 30 days.

Senate Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment SC0005 proposes to amend the Suffrage and Elections Article of the Illinois Constitution. It would allow every U.S. citizen who has attained the age of 18 or any other voting age required by the United States for voting in State elections and who has been a permanent resident of Illinois for at least 30 days before any election to vote in that election. The General Assembly may establish registration requirements and may require permanent residence in an election district not to exceed 30 days prior to an election.
