SB4206 allows municipalities and counties in Illinois to regulate data center siting and establish standards.

SB4206 amends the Illinois Municipal Code and Counties Code to allow municipalities to regulate the siting of data centers within their zoning jurisdiction and within a 1.5-mile radius. Municipalities can establish additional standards to protect water resources and mitigate noise pollution. Counties can establish standards for data centers in unincorporated areas outside of municipal zoning jurisdictions and a 1.5-mile radius. Counties can also establish standards for water resources and noise pollution.
