SB4066

Illinois SB4066 mandates driver education courses to include traffic stop procedures and constitutional rights instruction.

Illinois SB4066 amends the Driver Education Act to require driver education courses to include instruction on law enforcement procedures for traffic stops and constitutional rights of drivers and passengers. The courses must demonstrate proper actions during traffic stops and interactions with law enforcement. Starting from the 2027-2028 school year, the instruction will also cover constitutional rights, such as the right to remain silent and the right to refuse consent to a vehicle search.
