Illinois SB3973 amends the Public Utilities Act to authorize the Illinois Commerce Commission to acquire real property in Springfield during fiscal years 2027 and 2028. The Commission can acquire property subject to third-party interests that do not impede its intended use. The Executive Director can enter into contracts for construction, reconstruction, renovation, and maintenance of acquired property. The exercise of this authority is subject to appropriation. This Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
