SB3960

SB3960 mandates school boards to create policies limiting student use of wireless communication devices during instructional time.

SB3960 requires each school board to adopt and implement a wireless communication device policy by the 2027-2028 school year. This policy must limit student use of devices such as cellular phones, tablets, and laptops during instructional time. The policy must be developed in consultation with the parent-teacher advisory committee and cannot inhibit use of devices important for health, required by an individualized education program, or necessary during emergencies. The policy must be reviewed and revised every three years and posted on the school district's website.
