Increases tire sales fee to fund public health grants for vector-borne diseases.

Illinois SB3943 amends the Environmental Protection Act to increase the fee collected for the sale of new or used tires at retail from 50 cents to 60 cents per tire, effective July 1, 2027. The additional revenue will be deposited into the Emergency Public Health Fund and used to make grants to local health departments for expenses related to West Nile Virus and other vector-borne diseases. The grants will be based on population and need, with priority given to areas with higher incidence of these diseases.
