Illinois SB3812 amends the Attorney Act to prohibit private equity groups, hedge funds, and entities they control from interfering with attorneys' professional judgment in client representation. It also restricts these entities from controlling client records, hiring or firing attorneys or allied legal staff based on competency or proficiency, or setting competency parameters. Additionally, it bans these entities from charging fees based on attorneys' or law firms' fees, revenues, or profits.
