Illinois SB3652 amends the Electric Supplier Act to allow broadband providers to deploy infrastructure on electric easements and highways.

Illinois SB3652 amends the Electric Supplier Act to allow broadband providers to deploy infrastructure on electric easements and highways. Broadband providers can access existing electric easements and highways within the grant service area. Outside the service area, providers can access electric easements with proper agreements and highways with proper permits. Property owners must be notified and may claim just compensation if they believe their property value is diminished. Broadband providers must indemnify property owners for any physical damage. The provisions sunset on January 1, 2030.
