Illinois SB3644 amends the Rooftop Safety for First Responders Act to require municipalities to survey new commercial buildings with skylights and openings in low-sloped roofs every two years, starting by January 1, 2027. Additionally, within a year of the Act's effective date, municipalities must develop a methodology to collect data on existing buildings with such features by examining building permits and inspections. The survey results must be compiled into a building inventory and shared with local police and fire departments, especially in counties with populations over 1,000,000.
