Introduced Text

SB3641 mandates fingerprint-based criminal background checks for day care providers starting July 1, 2026.

SB3641 amends the Child Care Act of 1969 to require fingerprint-based criminal background checks for providers of day care services. Beginning July 1, 2026, the Department of Early Childhood will manage these checks for day care centers, part-day child care facilities, day care homes, and group day care homes. Applicants, employees, and volunteers must authorize these investigations and submit their fingerprints to the Illinois State Police.
