PROFESSIONAL AI OVERSIGHT ACT

Introduced·2/5/26
Introduced Text

Illinois SB3601 mandates disclosure when artificial intelligence is used in regulated occupations.

The Professional AI Oversight Act requires licensees in regulated occupations to disclose when artificial intelligence is used in interactions. This disclosure must be made verbally at the start of an oral exchange or in writing before a written exchange, and it must specify the purpose of the AI. The Act amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to prohibit the use of AI without clear disclosure. Violations incur civil penalties up to $2,500 per incident, determined by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The Act takes effect on January 1, 2027.
