Illinois SB3595 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow state entities to prohibit the use of low-speed electric bicycles or a specific class of low-speed electric bicycles on any bicycle path the state entity has jurisdiction over. The bill also specifies that low-speed electric bicycles must comply with equipment and manufacturing requirements adopted by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Additionally, it mandates that manufacturers and distributors of low-speed electric bicycles apply a label to the bicycle beginning on or after January 1, 2018.
