SB3536

Illinois SB3536 regulates insurer-directed motor vehicle repairs, requiring insurer notice and insured approval of body parts.

Illinois SB3536 amends the Illinois Insurance Code to regulate insurer-directed motor vehicle repairs. It mandates that insurers provide written notice to insureds before directing a body shop to repair their vehicles. The notice must inform the insured of their right to approve the type of body parts used. Insurers must also allow insureds to indicate their preferred body parts in writing. The bill defines "body part" and "body shop," and specifies that the requirements apply for five years after the model year of the vehicle.
