SB3435 allows municipalities with over 1 million residents to use automated systems for traffic obstruction enforcement.

SB3435 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to permit municipalities with a population of 1 million or more to use automated traffic law enforcement systems for violations related to obstruction of traffic at intersections. The systems must produce recorded images of the violation, including the vehicle and license plate. The registered owner receives a written notice of violation by mail within 30 days, with options to pay a penalty, complete a traffic education program, or contest the charge.
