The bill amends the Healthy Forests, Wetlands, and Prairies Act to establish a grant program for projects that restore degraded forest lands and promote the growth of native vegetation. Eligible entities include state agencies, local governments, land trusts, and other conservation-focused organizations. The grants can be used for activities such as planting native grasses, plants, and trees, removing invasive species, and conducting educational outreach. At least 75% of the funds must be awarded to eligible entities, while up to 23% can be used for administrative costs and public outreach.
