SB3408 amends Illinois Vehicle Code to allow vehicle registration renewal without inspection if owner agrees to complete and provide proof within 6.

SB3408 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow vehicle owners to renew their vehicle registration without undergoing an emissions inspection if they agree to complete and provide proof of the inspection within 6 months. Vehicles must be inspected every 2 years on a schedule beginning in the fourth calendar year after the vehicle model year. Certain vehicles, such as those used exclusively for parade or ceremonial purposes, antique vehicles, and those powered exclusively by electricity, are exempt from inspection.
