Chatbot Response Liability Act regulates chatbots, requiring parental consent for minors, preventing self-harm, and ensuring chatbots do not provide.
The Chatbot Response Liability Act mandates that chatbot proprietors ensure their systems do not provide misleading, incorrect, or harmful information. It requires chatbots to prevent promoting, aiding, or encouraging self-harm and to determine if a user is expressing thoughts of self-harm. If a chatbot fails to comply, the proprietor is liable for any resulting harm. The Act also requires proprietors to use commercially reasonable and technically feasible methods to determine if a user is a minor and to obtain verifiable parental consent before allowing minors to use the chatbot.
