Credit for Change Act: expands earned sentence credit eligibility for Illinois prisoners.

The Credit for Change Act amends the Illinois criminal code to expand earned sentence credit eligibility for prisoners. It eliminates mandatory minimum percentages for certain offenses and allows prisoners to earn credit for participation in rehabilitation programs, good conduct, and educational achievements. The Act mandates the Department of Corrections to provide materials about sentence credits to all incarcerated individuals and requires annual reports on earned sentence credit awards. Effective January 1, 2027.
