SB3344

Illinois SB3344 amends the Criminal Code to classify domestic battery as aggravated if the offender knows the victim is 60 years or older.

Illinois SB3344 amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to redefine aggravated domestic battery. Specifically, it states that a person committing domestic battery, excluding cases involving firearms, who knows the victim is 60 years of age or older, commits aggravated domestic battery. This change elevates the severity of the crime, making it a Class 2 felony with mandatory imprisonment terms. The bill also mandates that courts advise defendants of potential federal criminal penalties upon conviction.
