The Illinois Age-Appropriate Design Code Act requires covered entities to process children's data in a manner consistent with the best interests of children. Covered entities must complete data protection impact assessments, configure default privacy settings, and provide clear privacy information. The Act prohibits certain practices, such as profiling children by default and using dark patterns. Violations may result in civil penalties. The Act also establishes the Age-Appropriate Design Code Enforcement Fund.
