Introduced Text

Illinois SB3240 mandates high-impact social media companies to provide a customer support service for reporting harmful content.

Illinois SB3240 amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to require high-impact social media companies to offer a customer support service at no cost. This service must respond to customers within one business day and communicate resolution steps every three business days. The Attorney General can sue non-compliant companies, which face fines of $1,000 per day per violation. These fines fund mental health awareness in Illinois. Effective January 1, 2027.
