Introduced·2/2/26
Introduced Text

SB3210 amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 to allow extended jurisdiction juvenile prosecutions for minors aged 15 and older.

SB3210 amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 to allow the State's Attorney to file a written petition to designate a proceeding as an extended jurisdiction juvenile prosecution for minors aged 15 and older. The judge must determine if there is probable cause to believe the allegations are true. If probable cause is found, the judge may designate the proceeding as an extended jurisdiction juvenile proceeding if sentencing under the Unified Code of Corrections may be appropriate based on factors such as the minor's age, impetuosity, and level of maturity.
