SB3172

Illinois SB3172 amends the Criminal Code to define theft of labor or services and use of property.

Illinois SB3172 amends the Criminal Code to clarify theft of labor or services and use of property. It specifies that when compensation for labor or services is ordinarily paid immediately upon rendering, the trier of fact may infer that the labor or services were obtained by deception if the person refuses to pay or absconds without payment. This applies to renting or leasing vehicles, equipment, or library materials. The bill also outlines penalties for theft, including fines and restitution.
