Allows public transit agencies in Illinois to use electronic rearview monitoring systems on commercial vehicles instead of traditional mirrors.

Illinois SB3149 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow public transit agencies to use electronic rearview monitoring systems on commercial motor vehicles as an alternative to traditional mirrors. This change applies only if the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has granted an exemption to the federal mirror requirements. The electronic systems must still provide a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of the vehicle.
