VEH CD-SPEED ASSISTANCE DEVICE

Introduced·1/29/26
Introduced Text

Illinois SB3102 mandates the installation of speed assistance devices for drivers convicted of speeding over 100 mph.

Illinois SB3102 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to require individuals convicted of speeding over 100 mph to install an intelligent speed assistance device in their vehicles for at least 12 months or the duration of their license suspension or revocation. The device limits the vehicle's speed to 5 mph over the speed limit. The Secretary of State must create lists of approved devices and qualified service providers. Employers can request exemptions for company vehicles under certain conditions.
