SB3053 amends the Herptiles-Herps Act to allow live trapping of common snapping turtles with specific conditions.

SB3053 amends the Herptiles-Herps Act to allow the live trapping of common snapping turtles, subject to certain conditions. Live traps must be checked every 24 hours, equipped with flotation to ensure at least 2 inches of the containment area is above the water surface, and marked with the owner's name, address, or Department of Natural Resources customer number. The daily catch limit and total possession limit for licensed persons will be specified by administrative rule. This change applies despite any contrary administrative rules.
