Illinois SB3031 mandates public elementary and high schools to include Latin American studies in their curriculum.

Illinois SB3031 amends the School Code to require every public elementary and high school to include in its curriculum the study of the contributions made by Latin Americans to the economic, cultural, social, and political development of the United States. This instruction must cover Latin American history, events of the Latine experience, and the effects of colonialism. The regional superintendent of schools will monitor compliance and provide recommendations for improvement.
