Illinois SB3021 modifies regulations for anesthesia services in hospitals and ambulatory surgical treatment centers.

Illinois SB3021 amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act and the Hospital Licensing Act to remove the requirement that an anesthesiologist must remain physically present during the delivery of anesthesia services. It also amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to allow certified registered nurse anesthetists to select, order, and administer drugs and apply medical devices for anesthesia services without requiring an anesthesiologist's physical presence.
