Prohibits the sale of nicotine products near schools and day care centers in Illinois.
The Illinois SB3011, also known as the Prohibition of Nicotine Sales Near Schools Act, mandates that by January 1, 2027, every municipality and county must regulate the retail sale of nicotine-containing products within 1,000 feet of schools and day care centers. The Department of Revenue is prohibited from granting licenses for such sales near these institutions. The Act also limits home rule powers, ensuring that counties and municipalities cannot enact less restrictive regulations.
