SB2995 mandates disclosure of artificial intelligence use in consumer communications and sales in Illinois.
SB2995 amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act by adding a new section requiring businesses to disclose when artificial intelligence is used in consumer communications. Businesses must inform consumers if AI is being used and provide an option to speak with a human. Businesses cannot use AI to mislead consumers into thinking they are speaking with a human unless they are clearly notified otherwise. A violation of these provisions is considered an unlawful practice under the Act.
