Illinois SB2966 mandates active-transportation safety training for public and nonpublic school pupils in kindergarten through grade 8.

Illinois SB2966 requires school districts to provide public school pupils in kindergarten through grade 8 with age-appropriate active-transportation safety training. This training must include pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, and electric-assisted bicycle safety. Nonpublic schools must offer similar training to their pupils in kindergarten through grade 8. The Secretary of Transportation must maintain a comprehensive collection of active-transportation safety training materials.
