Illinois SB2939 mandates 90-day notice for facility closures affecting over 10% of residents.
Illinois SB2939 amends the Assisted Living and Shared Housing Act, the MC/DD Act, and the ID/DD Community Care Act to require facility owners to provide 90 days' notice before closing a facility or part of it, if it affects more than 10% of residents. Notice must be given to the Department, the Office of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman, residents, their representatives, and family members. The notice must include the closing date and reason. Facilities must assist residents in finding alternative placements and comply with all laws until the closure date.
