Illinois SB2919 amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act to ensure continued health insurance coverage for surviving spouses and dependent.

Illinois SB2919 amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act to ensure continued health insurance coverage for surviving spouses and dependent children of public safety employees. The employer must pay the entire health insurance premium for the surviving spouse and dependent children until the child reaches the age of majority or 25 if they are a full-time student. The employer must also offer the choice of any health insurance plan available to currently employed public safety employees. Any fraudulent attempt to obtain benefits under this act is a Class A misdemeanor.
