SB2880 mandates coverage for medically necessary assistive technology devices in Illinois insurance policies.

SB2880 requires group or individual accident and health insurance policies, and managed care plans in Illinois, to cover medically necessary assistive technology devices starting from January 1, 2028. The bill also mandates that various health insurance programs, including those for state employees, counties, municipalities, and schools, cover post-mastectomy care benefits and other specified health benefits. The Department of Insurance will enforce these requirements, ensuring compliance with the Illinois Insurance Code.
