Introduced·1/16/26
Introduced Text

Illinois SB2876 amends school discipline policies to limit suspensions and expulsions, ensure due process, and provide support services.

Illinois SB2876 amends the School Code to revise student discipline policies. It limits out-of-school suspensions to no more than 3 days unless other interventions have been exhausted and the student poses a threat or disrupts the school. Expulsions are restricted to cases where the student poses a threat or disrupts the school. The bill requires schools to provide support services for suspended students and create policies for re-engaging students returning from suspensions or expulsions.
