CONSUMER DATA PRIVACY

Introduced·1/16/26
Introduced Text

Illinois Consumer Data Privacy Act regulates data collection, use, and sale by businesses targeting Illinois residents.

The Illinois Consumer Data Privacy Act governs how businesses that target Illinois residents collect, use, and sell personal data. It applies to entities processing data of 100,000+ consumers annually. Excludes government entities, tribes, and data already regulated by federal law. Consumers have rights to access, correct, delete their data, and opt-out of targeted advertising and data sales. The Act mandates data privacy policies, security practices, and assessments. Controllers must provide clear privacy notices and establish appeal processes for consumer requests.
