SB2830

Property Justice Act aims to reform tax sales, prevent errors, and aid distressed municipalities.

The Property Justice Act establishes measures to improve the accuracy and fairness of tax sales in Illinois. It mandates that county officials execute a presale certification before conducting annual tax or scavenger sales, ensuring parcels are legally eligible and notices are properly served. If a sale lacks this certification, it is void. The Act also creates the Community Revitalization Property Trust to acquire unsellable parcels, clear titles, and facilitate community-driven redevelopment.
