SB2734

SB2734 amends the Illinois Domestic Violence Act to require law enforcement officers to complete a risk and lethality assessment for domestic.

SB2734 amends the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986 to mandate that law enforcement officers complete the intimate partner violence risk and lethality assessment instrument when they have reason to believe a person has been abused, neglected, or exploited by a family or household member. The bill also outlines specific actions officers must take, such as arresting the offender if appropriate, seizing weapons if there is probable cause, and providing victims with information and referrals to service agencies.
