SB2700 allows local mass transit districts to initiate and manage transit-oriented and trail-oriented developments.

SB2700 amends the Local Mass Transit District Act to empower the board of trustees of any local mass transit district to initiate transit-oriented and trail-oriented developments. These developments can include residential, commercial, mixed-use, governmental, or institutional facilities near transit stations or trails. The board can partner with various entities, acquire real property, and use funds and property for these developments. Additionally, the board can borrow money, issue bonds, apply for grants, and enter into agreements to support these initiatives.
