SB2670 amends the Emergency Telephone System Act by changing the monthly surcharge imposed on telecommunications and wireless carriers. Beginning January 1, 2026, the surcharge will be $2.50 per connection. Carriers may deduct up to 1.74% of the surcharge for accounting and collection expenses. The surcharges are remitted to the Illinois State Police and are exempt from state and local taxes.
