Illinois SB2521 allocates $4 million from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for grants to certified convention bureaus to develop tourism, education, preservation, and promotion for the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Up to $500,000 of this funding can be used for marketing expenses. Additionally, $1 million is allocated for expenses related to the Route 66 Centennial Celebration, in accordance with the plan developed by the Illinois Route 66 Centennial Commission.
