Illinois SB2441 establishes a medical education grant program to support medical students and physicians in training.

Illinois SB2441 amends the Higher Education Student Assistance Act to create a medical education grant program. The program aims to attract capable students to the medical profession, enhance the employment and retention of those in clinical training, and alleviate financial barriers. Grants will be awarded to eligible medical students and resident or fellow physicians to cover nontuition costs, including living expenses. The program will be administered by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, subject to appropriation, and will take effect on July 1, 2025.
