Illinois SB2437 amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to mandate hospitals and birthing centers to adopt policies allowing Medicaid patients to select a certified doula for support during childbirth and postpartum. The doula must accompany the patient within the facility's premises and be considered part of the patient's care team. The doula is exempt from being counted as a support person or against any guest quota.
