SB2418

YOUTH NONVIOLENT RESOURCE PGM

Chamber Passed·4/9/25

Illinois SB2418 establishes a resource program for youth adjudicated for nonviolent crimes.

Illinois SB2418 amends the Unified Code of Corrections to create a Youth Nonviolent Crime Resource Program. The Department of Juvenile Justice will provide resources to youth under 18 convicted of nonviolent crimes, excluding those involving force or threats. Resources include mentoring, educational access, employment training, behavioral health services, and parent support. Services can be delivered through existing or new contracts with community agencies. Circuit courts and probation departments can refer eligible youth, but the Department will not supervise court-ordered conditions.
