Illinois SB2265 prohibits eviction complaints naming minors and mandates dismissal of such complaints.

Illinois SB2265 amends the Code of Civil Procedure to prohibit eviction complaints naming minors. If a complaint names a minor, the court must dismiss the complaint in its entirety against all defendants. The bill also provides that a minor named in violation of this provision is entitled to reasonable attorney's fees, actual damages, and liquidated damages of $1,000. The court file relating to such an eviction action must be sealed.
