SB2264 prohibits counties and municipalities from penalizing tenants for requesting law enforcement or emergency assistance.

SB2264 amends the Illinois Municipal Code and Counties Code to prohibit counties and municipalities from penalizing tenants for requesting law enforcement or emergency assistance. It also prohibits penalizing tenants for association with others who have requested assistance or have been victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or other crimes. The bill requires counties and municipalities to provide tenants with notice and an opportunity to be heard before eviction.
