SB2249 amends the School Code to ensure that evaluations and placements of students with disabilities are not linguistically, racially, or culturally discriminatory. It mandates that parents be informed of their right to an independent educational evaluation if they disagree with the school district's evaluation. The bill also requires school districts to provide notices to parents about special education procedures and services, and to offer a list of free or low-cost legal services.
