Introduced·2/7/25
Introduced Text

SB2243 amends the Illinois Election Code to enhance voter registration, election transparency, and audit processes.

SB2243 mandates that election authorities automatically register voters who move within the state, provided certain conditions are met. It requires county clerks and the Board of Election Commissioners to verify voter registrations at least once every two years. The bill also mandates that election authorities post uncounted ballot information on their websites within 48 hours of closing polls. Additionally, it requires the State Board of Elections to audit 5% of election authorities to ensure compliance with vote by mail ballot processing requirements.
