Introduced Text

Illinois SB2222 amends the Election Code to redefine voting systems and ballots, and repeals Direct Recording Electronic Voting Systems.

Illinois SB2222 amends the Election Code by redefining terms such as "voting machine," "voting system," and "electronic voting system" to exclude direct recording electronic voting systems and systems using computers to mark ballots. It also revises procedures for counting provisional ballots cast in incorrect precincts, specifying conditions under which such ballots may be counted. The bill repeals the Direct Recording Electronic Voting Systems Article and makes conforming changes. Effective January 1, 2026.
